BUILD SHELTERS FOR POOR GRANDMOTHERS IN UGANDA

The plight of many Grandmothers in rural Africa is so overwhelming. For the case of Uganda, they are faced with extreme poverty, diseases due to age, malnutrition, poor immunity, poor unsafe shelter and the burden to take care of their orphaned grandchildren due to the HIV/ pandemic.

During one of my vacations to Ssese Islands, Kalangala District (in L. Victoria), I met a grassroot NGO called CARE OLD AGE AND CHILD FOUNDATION doing a wonderful job through their empowering and impacting programs to the most neglected niche by most civil society organisations in Uganda.

They offer Education to the Orphans and Vulnerable Children and also empower their Grandfathers who are their caretakers in this case. The biggest challenge they had though as an organization, was the inadequate resources to cater for the poor, weak and old Grandmothers who were at a very high risk due to the type and state of their shelters.

I humbly request you to lend a hand and make the dream of these Grandmothers come true, restore their lost hope and enable them and their grandchildren afford a decent shelter.
