Campaign Story
01/16/2022 The 16th of January, for most Siargaonons, is supposed to be a day of festivities. Dapan-ons, especially, are supposed to open and welcome their humble homes to people to celebrate the feast of Sto. Niño. We were supposed to enjoy street dancing along with the festive beat and rhythmic pattern of Prititit, and shout our hearts out with "Viva Pit Senyor!"
But, today hits different for some of our kababayans. Today marks exactly one month after super Typhoon Odette wiped out a lifetime's worth of hard work and harvest of our kababayan. Glad to say that some were fortunate, but the majority were not.
Nanay Servilla was among the people who were not spared by Typhoon Odette. She lives alone and is only dependent on the assistance provided by the government. Her house built with nipa and light materials were completely washed off by the Typhoon. It's been a month, but in spite of how long it has been, Nanay Servilla continues to live in a place where the water still gets through her roof when raining. Yes, it's been a month, but in spite of how long it has been, many people are still struggling.
As we continue to take the aftermath of this catastrophe one day at a time, we, from Lihok Siargao Inc., in support of HINABANG, believe that people still need our help. We know for sure that all these donation drives are not a one-day thing but so does the spirit of PAG-TINABANGAY.
Let's recover together.
Let's help make a shelter that warms people on their cold nights.
Let's continue to bring people food to provide on their tables.
Let's pray for strength, hope, and healing!
