Pride in Riga is now more important than ever! According to ILGA-Europe, Latvia in LGBTQI rights scores at the 41st place out of 49 European countries. LGBT community is now under attack from anti-LGBT organisations and many politicians, including those in the government coalition. Latvia is an EU country that still has a long way to implement basic human rights standards. We want to make our institutions and politicians accountable. Support Baltic Pride 2021 and help us to gain more visibility to LGBTQI issues in Latvia!

Baltic Pride 2021 will take place in Riga, Latvia, from 2 to 7 of August and will feature a variety of free workshops, seminars, discussions, film screenings, Think Diversity! Business Forum and Human Rights conference. The traditional pride march will be replaced by a fabulous alternative, Covid-19 safe public event that will provide plenty of opportunities for the LGBTQI community, allies, guests and supporters to participate in, in person and virtually. The event will culminate with the closing ceremony/rally that will have in-person participation (in-person attendance depending on gathering restrictions at that time), will be free of charge for everyone attending and will have a live online broadcast. The closing event/rally will be broadcasted widely so that everyone who is unable to attend can still watch and participate remotely.

Baltic Pride 2021 closing ceremony/rally is scheduled from 15.00 to 17.30 on Saturday, 7 August. There will be a concert by Latvian artists and speeches from the organisers, supporters, activists and partner organisations focusing on LGBTQI issues in Latvia, the Baltics and Europe. The next Baltic Pride hosts - Vilnius - will take over from Riga in this closing ceremony.

To make the event as accessible as possible and considering limitations people may have to attend the event in person, we are working on the good quality online broadcast that will be live, will feature what's happening on stage but in addition will also have hosts who will talk to the audience, do short interviews, highlight the most important events that happened during the pride week, put a spotlight on supporters and partner organisations, interview the organising team and volunteers, and remind people how to volunteer for pride in future and how to get involved in LGBTQI organisations in the Baltics. The goal of this broadcast is to create the community feel that traditional Pride always brings and to truly take pride to every home.

To do that, we need to raise EUR 3'000 to cover the costs of stage, sound equipment and technical support to ensure the live broadcast captures the event for the most in-person pride experience possible.

Donate and help us to bring Baltic Pride 2021 to every home!
