Thanks for your kind attention. It gives me an immense pleasure to connect with you for this noble initiative.
Under various articles of the Indian constitution, free and compulsory education is provided as a fundamental right to children between the ages of 6 and 14; however, there are a number of children who are not able to go to school due to financial or any other reasons. Most of the public schools in rural areas do not have enough resources like a basic library or books for children.
As International Book Giving Day takes place on 14th February, I would like to organize one of its kind Book Donation Drive. It's an initiative aimed at increasing rural kids' access and enthusiasm for books. The focus is to initiate a movement where each person could donate at least one book to a rural kid on on International Book Giving Day.
The donation which I could collect over here, it would be spent on buying books for kids in villages in India, and deliver it to them at their Municipal schools in their village through other volunteers or NGOs who could connect.
I would like to continue this donation drive even after 14th Feb. On a larger scale, I am aiming at building libraries across these small municipal schools in villages once I get enough resources and funding for that.
