The Bolivia Altiplano rural community Greenhouse project 2015.

In July 2015 myself and a group of fellow students from Langley Grammar School will be travelling to Bolivia's Altiplano (the Andean plateau) mountains as part of an expedition. We will be working alonside a rural community in El Alto, constructing Greenhouses with Adobe bricks.

Over 70% of El Alto's communities live in poverty and so these greenhouses will allow these people to grow vegetables that they otherwise would not be able to at such high altitude. Greenhouses in El Alto can empower families and individuals. When the vegetables finally bloom, they will provide nourishment for the families, especially their children. The vegetables can aslo be sold to provide sole or supplementary income for deprived families. The Expedition is 28 days long and construction of the Greenhouse will leave behind a tangible, positive legacy for the families in the community. During 2013/2014 I have been raising funds by undertaking acitivities like cake bakes, Christmas parties, walks, babysitting and car washes. There are also a number of upcoming activities planned including a 24 hour row.

Your donation and sponsorship to these upcoming fundaraising activies will help me to raise the remaing part of the £4000 which I require to pay for the travel, accomodation, food and all the building materials required to build the Greenhouse. Your support is greatly appreciated and will really make a difference to rural communites in El Alto. Thank you.
