Hope and Healing for Rea

A friend, a daughter, a mother and a servant of Christ. This is how our friend, Rea sees herself. An OFW from Dubai for 14 years, till kidney cancer took a toll in her life.

2013 was the year that changed her life when she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Now on stage 4 with metastasis to lungs, mediastinum, abdomen and femur, she struggles with pain and the thought of leaving behind her 3 daughters.

The disease is unnerving, and like every cancer, it’s not an easy battle. But Rea has always been a fighter, she is one of the strongest, most courageous women we know. She fought her way to college with a scholarship and managed to support her family to have a comfortable life, we know she will put up a good fight against cancer. But despite being a strong person, she cannot do this on her own. She will need a support system, her family, friends and the best medical care possible.

As we write, she is now suffering from cancer pain, doctors are trying all means to make her life comfortable as it could be and at the same time treatment should be given without fail. We, her friends and family are knocking in your kind hearts to help us. We want Rea to be free from the stress of financial concern. Earlier in 2019 her treatment is immunotherapy Keytruda (Pembrolizumab) but it has ceased working and her disease progressed

She is now given targeted therapy (chemo pills) on daily dose Lenvatinib (Lenvima) 18mg and Everolimus (Afinitor) 5mg costs P238,000 every month. Aside from this, she also needs pain medication of Morphine and Fentanyl patch daily, every 2 months of PET CT scan and MRI’s (P75,000) to monitor the progress of disease and treatment efficacy.
