Urgent: Help two brothers from Romanian children’s home bury their father

There was shockingly sad news at AMURTEL Family children's home yesterday. Two brothers, one 13 and one 7 years old that live with us found out that their father died. One day earlier we got a call that he is seriously ill and may die. He broke his leg and when it got infected, didn't get proper medical treatment. The leg had turned black with gangrene and he was very ill. Our team intervened immediately, activating the local authorities from his village to ensure that he is taken to the hospital for treatment. The police, social worker and ambulance were involved and brought him to the hospital. But it was too late. He must have already been in septic shock. He died the next morning, before we had time to bring the children to see him.

Today the family is organising the funeral. Their father was living in extreme poverty and the elderly grandmother does not have sufficient resources for organising a funeral. The boy's older brother who is over 18, lives independently and works at a pizza restaurant. He gave his whole month's salary towards the funeral and it still wouldn't cover everything, but which of course, is going to leave him with nothing to eat.
