With the small % of money raised we have been able to purchase good quality mais at an honest price. Temperatures are soaring now to 35-38 Celsius and the fields are dry and empty. Prices are starting to rise now. We hold our hearts for the people surrounding us. At least we will be able to help the most vulnerable ones at the end of the hunger season.
As you can see from the image below a crisis may emerge in our area. Malawians are used to dealing with shortages, but natural resources are depleted a a fast pace. In our area trees are cut up to the boundaries or our community farm. The only ones left are mango and papaya trees. Everything else is eaten or used for firewood.
