My name is Stacy-Ann Hyde and my mom, Sandra Butler is in urgent need of a heart procedure called a percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or angioplasty. By faith we have, after 4 years of waiting, set the appointment to have the procedure done on September 24, 2019. The deposit of 80% needs to be made by the end of August. The estimate provided by the hospital is JMD967,000 or USD7,300.

In Jamaica, on Friday, January 23, 2015 at about 7:00 pm, my mom fell ill on her way home from work on a public passenger bus. She was severely ill and as a result the bus driver diverted from his route to take my mother to a doctor with a full bus load of passengers. She was taken to the closest medical institution when they realised the intensity of her distress. It was reported that she was having severe breathing problems.

The passengers played significant roles in ensuring she was well attended to while on the bus. One lady, of whom I didn’t get a name, came off the bus and stayed at the doctor’s office with my mom until I arrived. She had bags of groceries with her that also made it to the doctor’s office that evening.

The doctor did all he could to stabilise my mom but we had to go to a bigger facility by ambulance with mom connected to an oxygen supply, to the emergency room

She had to undergo several tests, including

Electrocardiogram (ECG)
Echocardiogram
Stress test
Cardiac catheterization or angiogram
Heart scan
Blood tests
Angiogram

It has been a little over 4 years but we simply haven't been able to raise the money which has since doubled in cost and mom's artery reduced from 35% to 25% function. She has been in and out of the hospital over the 4 years and without medical coverage we have been going by the grace of God. Mom continues to work despite all this and is blessed to have an understanding and encouraging boss.
