Campaign Story
Candle in the Dark Centre is a registered Charity, which caters to the needs of the poor, the destitute and homeless and the street persons in Mandeville and its environs. At the Candle in the Dark Care Centre, we provide two meals per day, five days per week to over fifty clients between the hours of 8:30am to 3:00pm. These persons include drug addicts, ex-convicts, the mentally challenged, the poor and the destitute, in addition they enjoy separate bathing facilities and are provided with a change of clothing and footwear wherever possible. During the meals, the clients are ministered to spiritually, emotionally and mentally.
We will be constructing additional space to provide shelter facilities for these persons, especially the women who are raped and beaten on a regular basis. There are no facilities within the parish that caters for homeless women.
