Campaign Story
Hello everyone!
I am reaching out to you through this letter to seek any means of help for my father’s condition. He is Hernani B. Velacruz, a 63-year old loving and selfless husband and father living in Bonot, Legazpi City. He is called “Nonoy” or “Tio Nonoy” by many and is known as a friendly man, always ready to help someone in need in our neighborhood in any way he can. Last April, this year, he was diagnosed and found out that he has a stage 3C colon cancer which is the reason why last year, he started to feel sickly, weak and pain in his abdomen.
The attack of the cancer in his body caused his muscles to shrink rapidly in just few weeks that made him terribly weak with the agonizing pain even with a little movement he makes. He experienced mass bleeding in his bowel and urination which almost killed him, had the ambulance did not arrive on time, he had been expired.
We brought him to Manila Doctors Hospital in UN Avenue, Manila in his 1st confinement on April because we availed his health card for his overall laboratory tests and partial treatment. He was confined for the 2nd time because of the eruption of the wound fluid coming out from his navel caused by the tumor in his colon and because of blood in his bowels and urination. His 3rd confinement was the most critical because he was almost at his last breath when the ambulance rushed him to the hospital. The first, second and third confinement was all in Manila Doctors Hospital which incurred a hospital bill that is beyond our family’s capacity to pay. We are very grateful to our relatives and friends who extended financial help for us to be able to settle our bill and transfer our Papa to Philippine General Hospital. He was discharged last September to gain more strength as he has been in the hospital for 5 months however after 1 week he was rushed again to the hospital due to very low hemoglobin and infection.
My father’s state when transferred to PGH, so far, got better because of the immediate colostomy that he underwent and the better assessment and care of the doctors and nurses. Although still thin, and not yet cancer-free, he is now showing progress, motivated to bounce back to normal health condition so that he can undergo chemotherapy and totally remove the cancer tumor in his colon.
However, we humbly seek your kindness and generosity to help us raising the needed amount in settling our hospital bill here in PGH for our Papa to return home and purchase the needed medicines and medical supplies that he needs as outpatient. We, Nonoy’s children, even we have occupations, are not yet able to produce the amount incurred in his hospitalization as our financial resources have been fully exhausted during his previous confinements.
We cannot produce the money to pay for the process that is why, with all humility, we ask for your help in fighting in our battle. My father needs your merciful heart and kindness by extending any form assistance.
Please contact us through email, messenger or cellphone number provided below. We appreciate your care and concern for taking time to read and know our request. Thank you in advance for any help you may extend. Thank you very much for the compassion. God bless you more.
Sincerely,
CLEVE LAWRENCE S. VELACRUZ
