Only 10 days to go ... and nerves are jangling!

Update posted by Emily Andrews

Having EDS can be a bit of a roller coaster, so I've been battling a few flare ups and new symptoms recently. But instead of deterring me, it's making me even more determined to press ahead and do this daring abseil while I still can. I'm not sure whether I'm more afraid of the 400ft drop or climbing the steps up the tower - given that a normal flight of stairs can send my heart racing and head spinning, never mind the fatigue! But I've got the wonderful Claire on hand to push me up - and she's said she'll even push me off the ledge at the top if I feel like chickening out. So it's going to happen!

Mind you, I heard on the grapevine my folks are wishing it wouldn't. They see the everyday effects of the condition (and often pick up the pieces) so the idea of me climbing up then down a 400ft tower is giving them the heebie jeebies. My Dad suggested my sister might try and talk me out of it. I knew she wouldn't because we're both passionate about raising money for our programmes. In fact, if she was well enough she'd be joining in! But did she say any of this to Dad? Nope! Apparently she said 'Dad, really ... have you ever talked Emily out of ANYTHING?!" ... mmm, 'nuff said! So yes, I am determined and yes, I am going to do it. (Sorry Mum! Sorry Dad!)

So I can't back out now. We've had tremendous support and are half way to our 1000 goal. Wouldn't it be brilliant if we smashed it and went even further? So if you haven't already, please please support me by making a donation and spreading the word. Just don't tell Mum and Dad!!!!
