PNNI para-enforcers were able to confiscate a notorious chainsaw from illegal loggers in Port Barton, San Vicente, Palawan. The logging situation has escalated due to the demand for hardwood in construction of tourist cottages and resort facilities. The same is the result of a wrong direction of development at the expense of forest resources. DENR entered into a Co-management MOA with the Governor over 700,000 hectares of forests paving the way for unhampered logging in Palawan's remaining forests, for an industry that does not cater to the poor of the Last Frontier.
