Please help baby Thaddeus - Our PPHN Warrior!

Update posted by Robert James Quejadas

Hi! my name is baby Thaddeus, but mostly they called me baby Ethan. Because I have strong and a fighter heart. I am a PPHN Warrior, my case is too rare. I was born last March 22, 2019 in Davao City, Philippines. I am a smiley little angel and knows several things, for the meantime, I am glad to share with you my journeys:

The first 3 days of my life was critical, my respiratory rate is not normal, I breath fast like 70s, 80s or 90s respiratory rate/minute. Antibiotics was given, medical procedures and laboratory-ABG, CBC, X-Ray, Ultrasound, and 2d echo were also done. I was transferred to NICU on the 4th day and continue medical management to treat my illness. It was like a roller coaster ride, sometimes my body gets well, and sometimes gets ill. Until on the 22nd of April 2019 I was finally discharged from NICU and was transferred to private room in 3 days before the doctor cleared and sent me home. The doctor final diagnosis were neonatal sepsis, persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn, and patent foramen ovale.

I was sent home but have oxygen support and continue my therapy. But It’s OK as long as I sleep beside with my Mommy and Daddy. I am so happy because I feel the love and care of my family.

On the 3rd day of June 2019, I was admitted in Pedia Ward. I was so uncomfortable with my tummy, I felt ill and then bingo I got fever, and also I felt like my pulmonary pressure gets high and I was diagnosed for having Gastrectasia. My heart is dancing and can’t contain my happiness that I will be home soon after a week in staying at the hospital.

Monday 29th of July, 2019. I cried so much because of my high fever and to the point that I was being cyanotic, my parents sent me back to the hospital to make sure what makes me so uncomfortable, then I had my laboratory test and found out that I’m retaining a carbon dioxide due to my pressure as well as my x-rays shows I do have a pneumonia. While waiting for my bed, I was not able to breath properly, my airways have been tight and in just a seconds my resident doctor paged for help, I heard “CODE: BLUE” twice, many doctors were unto me for help and sent me to PICU for close monitoring. When I woked up I was on a mechanical ventillator to help me to breath and felt uneasy with my little and tired body. I dislikes all the wires that attached into it but I was cooperative for 2 days. With Gods grace and all your prayers I was extubated after 3 days! Yay! my family, Tito, Tita, Lolo Lola, cousins and all family members were so happy and so am I because I could cuddle with my mom and drink my milk very well and after PICU I was sent to Pedia Ward for observation. Then after staying there, my parents got a good news that we were able to return home on August 4, 2019 and so it happened.

Wednesday on the 14th of August 2019, I was not feeling well, I am irritated every now and then. We went to ER once again for a thorough assessment, I was then admitted, my heartbeat has been stopped for 10 minutes. However, God really loves me and give me another breath of life! I was revived! I am living Gods miracles, presently I am in Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) - Davao Doctors Hospital, with my brave heart, I was fighting because I know you love me dearly, aside from my Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension, I was having a Pneumonia and Meningitis. Please be with me on this journey. Your thougths, prayers, and love will always be my weapon.

My parents and I is knocking your golden heart, any help will do due to my consistent admission in the hospital.

Thank you and much love!

Thaddeus
