Daddy Van update from his daughter:

Daddy Van update: Day 4 in the ICU. Daddy is awake and slightly lucid--sometimes he gets confused and is asking where he is, what happened, etc. Other times, he's aware of everything. Doctors say it's just his meds. He was able to talk to my brother via video call for a few minutes before conking out.

His lungs, blood pressure and heart have all shown improvement. His kidneys are the only risk for now.

Again, thank you everyone for the support and prayers! We're almost there. Let's pray Daddy Van keeps his vital signs up!

Daddy Van update from his daughter:

He is still in the ICU. His right lung (the one that had the VATS procedure done) has shown improvement but is still leaking fluid, the doctors kept the pneumothorax tube in to continue draining it. Everytime he is conscious, he is disoriented and gets agitated and thrashes around. He might accidentally rip the wires/tubes attached so the doctors are keeping him sedated. The few times the doctors tried to wean of sedatives, his anxiety and thrashing would strain his weakened lungs, as well as cause his blood pressure to spike (going from 50 to 200). The doctors think this is what caused the left lung to leak as well. They have just inserted another tube into the left lung. Vitals are normal as of right now (8:45pm).
