Sunday 16 December - Dash is Home!

Update posted by Jessa Lane

Dash is home you guys! He's in his crate, and he had some chicken when he got back. He's definitely still in need of the pain medication and antibiotics they sent him home with, and he's just been sleeping a lot, and lifting his head up for cuddles when he can get them. The instant pot is our friend, because it cooks the chicken thighs and sweet potatoes perfectly. We still need to pick up a cone of shame for him, and some meds, but he's on the mend SO FAR. The surgeon said she was hopeful at this point--which is a much better prognosis for him than what I was hearing at 3:30 am Saturday morning when she called me after his surgery. There is still a chance that his intestines won't be able to handle food, and we may still lose him, but I'm optimistic. He certainly is happy to be home!

Thank you still to everyone who donated--the final bill was $2877.50, plus $144.00. Right now the total went onto a Care Credit card, so we have six months to get everything paid off. It seems a little overwhelming right now, but we're just going to keep slogging along. PS If you're ever in the area, feel free to stop by. We'd love to have you, and show you around. Meet Dash and give him some cuddles. :)
