I can already imagine you right now barraging me with pillow attacks while shouting, "Bakit mo 'yan inupload! Dapat lagi akong maganda sa picture!“

Sorry if I did. But I just wanted to share to the world this photo of us taken last Sunday night. Your last photo fighting physical and emotional sickness and believing you can win over it. Your last photo showing strength and positivity amidst trials. Your last happy photo.

As morbid as it may sound, I will say that yes, we did not win over the physical battle. The infection from the wounds on your thigh and butt, together with the countless medical conditions that you have, including the rare autoimmune disease Myasthenia Gravis that started it all, they all worked together to knock you down. And at 1:45AM, your body gave in. We were not able to get you out of the hospital alive. We lost the battle against your diseases. And if I am not mistaken, it was your MG that dealt the finishing blow that ended the fight.

But come to think of it, you fought a good fight. From last quarter of 2013 til today, you managed to live life well while at the same time battling with your MG and other conditions. You lived and colored your life while struggling with an unimaginable amount of pain. And it took not just MG, but more than ten medical conditions to bring you down.

But you know what, your conditions have only won the physical battle. Yes, it robbed us of your physical body. It robbed us of the tangible persona that we can talk to, interact with and share life with.

But you still live. As cliché as it may sound, you still live in our hearts and in our thoughts. And you outsmarted your diseases because you now live a pain-free life.

Enjoy your new life up there. Please be our guardian angel and guide us. The next days and weeks will be tough because you won't be physically here anymore. It'll be hard to celebrate your birthday and our annual Christmas party this year now that you're gone. But I know you'll help us get through this. And I know everything will be alright.

Mahal kita. Mahal na mahal. Salamat sa lahat, Karmina.
