UPDATES

Update posted by Lonneke Egersdorfer

UPDATE:

Lizette has taken another turn, she has had a seizure and is currently in ICU in Victoria Hospital. After Liz was discharged from Stanger it seemed she was making progress at home, slowly but surely. On Wednesday things changed and she started deteriorating. She was in and out of hospital on Thursday and Friday and has now been admitted back into ICU at Victoria. Liz blood tests and CT have come back clear. She is currently back on the ventilator.

The hospital requires a R40 000 deposit just for ICU.

Liz is unable to be taken back to Stanger as there are no beds. So right now she has to stay at Vic.

The fund will remain open and i am currently looking to see if we can extend the target date to give us more time.

A message from the family:

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We really appreciate it so much. We thought we raised enough as she was getting better, but as things have gotten bad again, we will be raising the target to R60 000 as we need to cover all her Medical bills. I do not know the amount of the MRI scan. We will be completely honest and accountable for each and every cent she is given. ALL DONATIONS ARE WELCOME>>EVEN R10 GOES A LONG WAY!!

If you feel it in your heart to give, please click on the donate tab.

We love you and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Please help me get my sister home to her boys. Healthy and strong.

Love Chantal Kidgell

UPDATE: To everyone who has so generously donated.

Myself, Chantal and her family but mostly Liz ;-) are overwhelmed at the generosity, kindness and help that everyone has shown to Liz during this time. We literally reached target in FOUR DAYS! There are no words that can describe the gratitude we have. To date we have received one of the hospital bills from Alberlito. Liz was admitted there first before being transferred to Stanger. This account is standing at just over 17k but does not include the Dr's, A&E, path lab and Radiology. We will have some accounts to settle at Stanger as well. The funds raised will go straight to covering these accounts.

The fund will stay open for the full 31 days, because of it being in SA there are restrictions on when the funds can be accessed and therefore all monies need to stay in the account for the full amount of time.

I will keep you posted as we go. Thank you all once again for you support.

xxx

UPDATE: 16/05/18

Hi All, I have just had news that Liz has been taken off the ventilator and is talking !!! I cant believe it. This is amazing. Well done Liz we knew you could do this, we trusted in timing, we believed God would heal, we had faith you would let us know when you are ready. Today is the day !

UPDATE: 14/05/18

I've had an update that Liz has not shown improvement since I last posted. They are battling to get her lungs to function properly. She remains critical and sedated. We trust that the timing is all about what her body needs to recover, we believe she is in goods hands, we have faith she will let us know when she is ready.

UPDATE:13/05/18

Liz has opened her eyes. She is still on the machines and they are trying to sync the machines with her own breathing to keep her calm. She is responding much better to her dad and apparently had a strong response to hearing her sisters voice on the phone! This is such good news. We continue to hold Daleen (still in hospital) in our thoughts as she recovers from her op. Lizette Steyn you can do this !

UPDATE: Liz seems to be responding to tones/voices she is moving her eyelids but still unable to talk, she is still intubated. They are trying to bring her BP up as it is still to low. Please keep Daleen (Liz Mom) in your prayers, she fell and broke her arm yesterday and will be going in for an operation later today.

UPDATE: Hi Everyone, I am trying my best to update where possible and as soon as possible. My only contact so far has been with Chantal and it has been hard since we all in different time zones. Chantal is currently waiting to board the first flight out and so I'm guessing I won't be in contact for long periods.

Latest news I have is that Liz is breathing on her own, her heart is stable and if she continues to show such progress they are hoping to extubate her soon so praying by the time I post next, this would have happened. We are hoping they managed to do the necessary tests today to try to ascertain the cause of this all. I will be in touch with another update as soon as I can.

We are completely overwhelmed and humbled by the continuous support the community, friends, family, and even strangers have shown. It has been nothing short of remarkable.

UPDATE: 12/05/18

Hi All, We cannot thank you enough for all your donations. Chantal has been blessed with a ticket and will be back in SA shortly. Every single cent raised on this platform will go towards medical costs. Liz seems to be a little more stable and her blood pressure is slowly normalizing. As i write this i am awaiting the next update and praying the next message will bring even better news.
