Trauma, no water and getting back to a normal life.

Update posted by Jodie Epper

Yesterday we drove a car and a truck up to the villages of Dusun Longken, Desa Sajang and Bira Village to deliver rice, medicine, nappys, clothes, blankets and bedding. The JMS staff are working with two amazing volunteers on the ground Mbak "Titi' Suhada and Mbak Soleha who are recording the names and needs of all the families in these villages.

We saw many army personal demolishing the many damaged buildings and many many tarps - temporary structures people are sleeping under. Fresh water, toilets and damaged houses are some main concern of the village. The emotional well being, and recovery from the trauma of the experiences, of the people ,particularly the children are what JMS will focus on next.

A cup of tea was offered when we arrived - hospitality amongst the chaos.

JMS staff observe a collapsed house where a small child was recovered from - she was unhurt.

JMS staff and volunteers sort out the medicine packs.

JMS staff playing with the children and having some fun and laughter amongst the chaos is a welcome relief.
