March 15th 2018 - update from John

Update posted by Louise Taylor Bowen

My first ten days since leaving hospital have been really good for me, not without challenges and a whole heap of new things to get used to, but sleeping so we'll and seeing the return of my appetite which had to be put on hold around hospital food. The two things that hospital should provide are actually the two hardest things to achieve - decent food and a good nights sleep. They do try with the food but fail because of the numbers they cater for,and sleeping properly, well that's just down to being around some very injured people who require attention night and day.

Thanks to Louise's Mum and Dad, I have had a lovely space to return to and restart my life post injury. It's light and spacey with a great courtyard garden to sit in when I need fresh air, I am incredibly grateful and actually very lucky.

Another fantastic thing happened last week that has already started to produce some really decent results has been Mick the Physio. I have known Mick for many years, i had no idea that one day I would actually need the service he is now providing me. He explained that it would not be at all easy but it would be worth it, if I was willing to put the effort in. He was right, I know it's early doors and I have a long way to go, but my back, my core muscles and my mental well-being have improved I'm sure.

Now I must thank everyone for the time and donations that have been given me whilst I've been in Salisbury hospital and for the ongoing effort that is being put in as I speak. I am absolutely bowled over by all of this,it is inspiring me to think of things that I can achieve for people who are not in as fortunate place as myself. Watch this space!

A massive thanks has to go to all the Doctors and Nurses who were so instrumental in my rehabilitation, and to strength of character of some of the patients I spent the last 6 months with. I have so many stories that would restore people's faith in human nature, too many to write down for now but will do in the near future.

Thank _you again everyone for your support, my promise is that the money you have raised will always be spent wisely.

Love John Bowen XXX
