Hi Everyone, this is quite some mission we are on here! Just when I think it's in the bag, whoops! we get another twist in the tale...

So, with the help of all your donations and support and a very generous loan to cover the deficit, we raised the funds! What a buzz to know that many people care about what we are doing. That's the good news.

The bad news?

Despite our legal right of preference, we didn't have the funds available in our Portuguese bank in time to completely stop the purchase going through. The purchaser, Floresta do Lago Lda decided to play hardball and continue with the sale, as we could not return his deposit of €68,000. Forcing us to take him to court to overturn the sale.

This court procedure is simple and standard. Our lawyer assures us we have done everything right and there is no way they can legally deny us the property. However it will cost us more and can take 6 months or more to complete! Our lawyer thinks he is testing our resolve and that once he sees we have the funds, and are going to go ahead (which we will by hook or by crook!) we can settle out of court.

I would really like to have the land under our control by spring, so we can make sure that the new birthing and growing season all creatures are safe. So, this is the intention I am holding.
