Developing our home - Week 1

Update posted by Liz Clark

After receiving the contract last week we have been able to really start working on the houses, with soooo much to do before its live-able full time (ok I exaggerate...there’s not SSOOOOO much) But it’s great to see the progression anyhow. Saturday was a visit day and oh how much progress we made... the garden has been cleared massively and soon we should be able to start to structure the mandala veggie garden. We brought a van load of stuff over and finished painting one of the rooms, prepared all the other upstairs rooms for painting, cleaned and re-tiled the roof, got rid of a lot of rubbish left on the land and had a wonderful day with friends by the river.

We have to; finish painting, clean the 30-year-old cement from the floors, tile a kitchen wall, set a tube from the river to the water tank, connect the land to mains electricity, build a veggie garden, fix leaks in the granite walls, make or restore the doors, sand and oil the shutters and window frames, fit a waterproof rubber lining to the windows, clear the rest of the rubbish, fix the access road, sand and paint the metal terrace rail and all hinges (windows and doors)…

Our home is developing and with 101 days until due date, we have to keep going… Thank you to all who have supported us so far, all of your donations are received with a lot love and gratitude. Obrigada, merci, thank you!!!
