Farewell, Dindo

Update posted by Issa Gabrielle Bautista

We are deeply saddened to inform you that Dindo passed away in his sleep yesterday, at 9 am, October 11, 2016 at St. Luke's Medical Center, following cardiac arrest. It had been a tough 10 years for him, but it was time to let God deliver him from all his afflictions. He remained strong until the end. And we are relieved that his passing was peaceful and painless. On behalf of Dindo's family, relatives and close friends, we would like to thank everyone who supported this cause and prayed for his recovery, and to the nurses and staff at St. Luke's who went out of their way to make sure Dindo was comfortable and getting the care he needed. A private memorial service will be held from October 12 to 15 at Most Holy Trinity Parish Mortuary, Sampaloc City, just across Dindo's home. I hope you can join us in remembering and celebrating the life of a loving and compassionate son, brother, relative, friend, and basketball teammate.

However, as much as we want to focus on saying goodbye to Dindo, the fight is not over for his family. While Marg and I admire the family, especially Auntie Alyn, Dindo's mother, for keeping it together during this troubling time, we would still like to increase our efforts to at least lighten the burden of paying off the hospital bill. They need to settle a final bill totaling 1.4 million pesos, which includes 400,000 to be allocated to doctors' fees. As you already know, there were many doctors involved in the care of Dindo. You may read the payment contract below and see what we are up against. We are hoping to still receive support and financial assistance, especially during this critical period. Thank you all for taking the time to read this update. Again, let us pray for Dindo's soul. May he rest in peace.
