New Developments in Her Story

Update posted by Amanda Welch

Hi everyone! We're on Day 3 of sharing this fundraiser, and we are right on track to reaching our $1,000 goal. My friend's situation, however, is shifting.

She and the other families were not able to secure the house that they had set their hearts on (anyone who rents in the Seattle area knows how difficult it is to find a decent place.) Meanwhile, her husband's behavior is growing more erratic and ominous. It is typical for abusers' actions to escalate in the days before his partner frees herself. It's a sensitive time.

So today she is applying for transitional housing for abused women and families. We're asking for your hopes and prayers that a space is open for her and the kids, and she can move in a few days. Her emergency bag is packed, and she has a backup plan to flee if she needs to sooner than that.

This is how your donations will contribute to her new plan:

- Uhaul rental

- Kitchen items like dishes, coffee maker, pots and pans, dish soap and towels, etc.

- Bathroom items like towels, soap, shampoo, etc.

- Food in the fridge

And once she is able to find a permanent residence:

- Uhaul rental

- First month's rent

- Security deposit

- Furniture and bedding

Once she is on her own, she will finally be free to work. We will keep you posted on how the transition is going, and, once again, thank you for helping her find safety and start a new life.
