Location, location, location

Update posted by Zsofia Daniel

Hi Everyone,

a lot of time passed and the projects are rolling forward, do here is a little update for you.

Currently I'm organizing two (and a half) projects, one of which was born when I was taking portraiture classes. Portraying men today looks like this: "make them look strong and confident". This is it. There is nothing else that today's photography says about men. So that's it then? This is what the future generations will see, when they study our society. Women were sexy, lean, motherly, puppy loving, etc. and men... men were strong and confident. I don't sing up for that.

So I went on, met and talked to many actors and actresses who would be willing to shatter that glass. And I think I've found the perfect ones. They are just so dedicated and amazing at so many levels!

I also location scouted, which is a far more time (and energy) consuming thing then it sounds. For some reason I thought it's going to be easy, but for sure it isn't. So many things need to be aligned! Forms, colours, light, everything. Below perfect isn't going to do! Location is one of those key elements which sets the tone of the pictures. If that one is off, it doesn't matter how much I've worked on anything else. Many photographers picture the perfect location, where they want the story to take place. For me it's the other way around. I'm looking for real places (most of which are totally unavailable by the way) and try to fit my image. All in all I think I've found the perfect place for this interesting series, but still need your help to be able to rent it for 14 nights.

14 nights are the minimum contract term (costs 2605CHF) and according to my time schedule we'd need that much time anyway. Why does it take so long to have all the pictures? I will let you know in the next update!

Up until then have a great time and help if you can!
