Latest update as we prepare to head to Chamela and Villa

Update posted by Daniel Beck

On behalf of the biological field station at Chamela, and the communities near the field station that were struck hard by hurricane Patricia, a BIG THANK YOU!!! Your generousity gave us $4,359 dollars to help recovery efforts ($2048 raised here on GoGetFunding and $2311 raised offline). Last week we delivered $2000 to the field station to help pay extra workers to clear the trails and roads around the field station that were blocked by fallen trees and debris. That money not only helped with getting the field station back on its feet, but provided extra work and $$ for local workers who's famlies are also recovering from the hurricane. The remaining funds will be used to help dozens of families in the communities of Francisco Villa, Emiliano Zapata and Arroyo Secoy rebuild the roofs blown off their homes by the hurricane. We will also deliver funds to the elementary school in Francisco Villa to aid their recovery efforts. Taggert and I are heading down on Thursday, December 3rd. We'll give you a final report after we return. Mil gracias y gran abrazos!
