Optivizor Doggy Eye Protection!

Update posted by Jen Crook

More great news today - James at Optivizor has offered to support the expedition by providing Haggis with an Optivizor face mask to protect her eyes in blizzard conditions, something that I have been wondering about and researching for a while.

I was finding it very difficult to find a company that provided 'proper' eye protection as opposed to fashion orientated doggy goggles, so I asked the guys at Ruffwear for recommendations and, fortunately, someone in the office knew about this gem of a company.

Having chatted to James on the phone today, it turns out that he set up as a business after his cat needed a collar after an operation, leading James to research comfier collar solutions than the classic plastic collars available from the vets (Haggis definitely agrees that these are not nice, as does Ross, my old house mate, who got persistently battered in the back of the legs by it). After supplying comfy collars for a while, James came across these doggy face protection masks, of all shapes, sizes and purposes and decided to encorporate them into his business, becoming the only supplier of Optivizors (an Australian based company) in the UK, so I am very glad to have heard of them. They are used by military and police dogs, search and rescue dogs and now, of course, people who decide to walk through Scotland in a dark blizzard for a couple of months.

Stay tuned for silly photos of Haggis trying to not try the Optivizor on when it arrives.

Thank you James!
