The next and final part

Update posted by Charlie Lenk

Hi again. So: my hair has grown back nicely - had it cut now twice already! My color is good, I rarely weave and stumble with fatigue, and to glance at me you probably wouldn’t think here’s someone who’s been fighting cancer the last 10 months. People who haven’t seen me in awhile invariably comment on how good I look. (Usually meaning how much weight I’ve lost, not that I much enjoy then telling them why.)

Getting through treatment was the first part and recovering from it the second. Both over now and the PET scan next week will reveal how effective the chemo and radiation have proved. I expect good news; my strength has largely returned and for the last month or so I’ve been increasingly capable of the level of activity I was before getting sick. Many days my only reminder is the chemo port still in my chest, which last I heard is going to stay until at least August. Just to be sure.

Now comes the final part: putting my life back together. It’s going to take awhile. That’s where your help comes in. Whether or not you wish to make a donation yourself, between now and the campaign’s scheduled end date this February 17 please give thought to getting the word out as you can: sharing on Facebook, email forwards, telling friends in person, etc. If you’d like to donate independently of GoGetFunding, please use Paypal (use the Send A Message link at right for details how) and it will be counted towards the campaign. And if what you can do is simply send me your thoughts and best wishes, I’m more than happy for those. I’ve made it this far in large part through your support on all levels.

Now more than ever I’m glad that you’re with me through this. Thank you so very much for everything.

Charlie
