Shelter update

As you may recall from our previous update on 14^th of October we have been working with other groups to bulk buy the UNHCR Shelters.

Collectively, the groups involved have raised enough to buy 32 shelters. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed.

Salam, a French voluntary organisation working in the Jungle is putting up the first 12 shelters. They have sent these photos.

The second batch of 20 should arrive at the end of January.

What next?

The conditions in the Jungle remain appalling. Numbers are thought to have increased from 3000 to 6000 this autumn. There are many more families and unaccompanied minors (those alone and under 18 years old) now living in the Jungle who are especially vulnerable.

Hastings Supports Refugees is hoping to fundraise specifically for an unaccompanied minors initiative 2016. We’ll keep you posted.
