Ecuador Outreach Update

Update posted by Marion Virginia Smith

OCTOBER - DECEMBER HAPPENINGS...

Praise be to God who loves us with an everlasting love and gives us strength through the storms. There is so much to be thankful for! My grandmother always said, He's done so much for me, I can not tell it all." I now understand that testimony. God is so so good. He is Faithful. He's walked with me through adversity and He has kept me safe through earthquakes and storms, and while traveling up and down mountains with blinding fog and drivers who appear to be in a race. We have ministered in multiple cities within Panama, CostaRica and Ecuador.

I have been given a wonderful opportunity to be a witness, share God's love and embrace other cultures, indigenous groups and just love on the children. My time here in Central and South America will be drawing to a close in 2 weeks. It has been an amazing 5 months in serving, worshiping and sharing the good news of Jesus.

Some of the highlights from the last several months included activities at several nursing homes, orphanages, and community centers in various towns. Each of us have also had several opportunities to lead in church services, give a message and words of encouragement. We have helped with construction of a farm that will be a training base for the indigenous tribes to come and learn agriculture. Additionally, we have held prayer walks in the communities and prayed for people in their homes, taught bible school, built a fence and constructed a concrete floor in the sanctuary of one of the ministries. Also, construction is still ongoing at the main base in preparation for the new indigenous children who will be coming to live and study on a full time basis, and in fulfillment of the vision God has given the Directors at YWAM Panama.

My time these past few months have not been without adversity, but I refuse to allow these things to cause me to stop the work God has placed in my hands to do or discourage me to leave without finishing the race. In October, my house was broken into and my checks were stolen from several bank accounts. One account was completely overdrawn. An amount totaling over $8000.00 was stolen. This resulted in all my accounts being frozen. With that, my bills which were set to be paid from those accounts could no longer be paid. Thank God for two of my sisters who jumped right in to help and have been handling things for me while I am away. Then, this week, I got an email from my credit card company who said my account was being fraudulently used and they have now closed my account. This presented other concerns since that is the only credit card I am traveling with and I don't have access to cash, nor an international address where I can receive another credit card. I know these are attacks of the enemy. I refuse to drop everything and run home. I believe God directed me here for a purpose and I intend to fulfill it.

So, please continue to pray for me and my family. I thank you for all your support and prayers. Hope to see you all very soon.

Love Marion
