Mission Update

Jan 2016- Mission Update

Ok, I know, it has taken me some time to write about the happenings since Mexico, so here goes…After much prayer and seeking for answers, I felt led to return back home to begin work on the mission house (The Refuge) and the vision God had given me over eight years ago.The only thing is that home was located in Georgia, and I was currently living in Orlando. After returning, I immediately put my house on the market and it sold in one week.I was beginning to see things fall into place and knew God had His hand in this.So I packed up my truck and headed to Georgia.

The Vision:My house shall be a house of refuge for those needing help, rest, and peace. This home would be a place where underprivileged youths could come and learn the basics, such as sewing, cooking, music, arts & crafts, and get homework help and participate in serve projects and mission trips. Also, it would serve missionaries in need of rest and relaxation. They will be pampered during their stay at “The Refuge.”

This 2 acre property will be transformed into a mini resort, the wish list including an inground pool, a pool house, loft with a tv/meeting area and several bedrooms, a reading nook, a craft room, music room and game room. The grounds will be surrounded by benches, flower gardens, sand volleyball area, prayer hut, outdoor kitchen, pergolas, and lounging areas, etc.

I shared this vision with my brother-in-law, Fred, who was a master carpenter, and he jumped at the opportunity to be a part of this vision.I thought to myself, this should be a breeze, why we build a house in 1 day in Mexico.Oh how wrong was I (LOL). We were attempting to renovate a house originally built in 1902, over 100 years old. What could possibly go wrong, went wrong and more.

A couple of months into the renovation, he was diagnosed with terminal cancer and soon passed.Fast forwarding and going on a year, this project has had over six groups of contractors, each building and adding to this vision. There have been many challenges, but I’m still determined to build this refuge.More on that later.God continues to be faithful and show me His faithfulness every day.I am reminded to breathe and rest at His feet.
