Surgery and 1st Follow Up Apointment

Update posted by Regina Palacios

Ruben's surgery on 6/26 was a smooth success as far as we know. There were no surprise or hiccups and the doctor believes he removed the full tumor. We won't know for sure until his second follow up appointment on 7/3 to discuss the test results of his tumor.

After the surgery Ruben was a bit groggy and very sore. He wore a catheter for a week which caused him a lot of discomfort, limited mobility, and a decent amount of pain. His doctor said that since he's so young, he would feel these things more than someone twice his age. He did and he hated it.

His first follow up appointment was today (7/2). It was scheduled for tomorrow (7/3) but he called the doctor this week and they agreed to remove his catheter a day early because Ruben bladder seemed to be healing quickly. It was removed with no issues today and Ruben feels a whole lot better. Now he can walk, bend, sleep, and urinate normally. He's a happy guy!

I'll continue to post updates here for anyone interested in his progress.
