He was not supposed to survive!

Update posted by Mike Cook

Three times I've heard it now.
The Trauma Doctor on duty said ''I've never seen a skull that badly fractured where the patient survived!''
The ICU Sister said, in my 10 years ''I've never seen a patient talk a day and a half after such a horrendous head-on collision!''
When I fetched Matthew from High Care, the Matron on Duty said ''I didn't think he was going to survive! ''

The name Matthew means 'Gift of God'

This is the second time God has given him to me. Matthew and Claire were GIFT babies......Test Tube babies. The fertility clinic took 8 eggs out of me and fertilised them. Put 4 back in, of which 3 were fertilised and froze the others away. So for 10 weeks they were going to be triplets. I've been told God only deals you, what he knows you can handle, and I knew I had 2 arms for holding , 2 legs for a lap and 2 breasts for feeding. Poor Claire has always been told she ate her brother.

So I believe I'm still a virgin. The Doctor's put them in through the belly button and took them out via C-Section.

They were born 8 and a half weeks prematurely and spent 5 and a half weeks in Neo-Natal. Absolutely perfect. Nothing wrong with them thanks to a wonderful Gynae and Neonatal team in Cape Town.

Isiah 41:10 Do not be afraid -I am with you!
I am your God -let nothing terrify you!
I will make you strong and help you;
I will protect you and save you.

I am so pleased to announce that I fetched Matthew from High Care on Saturday. Exactly 3 weeks from the accident. I won't lie and say I wasn't worried it was going to be the same child coming home. The strange comments he would come out with was very funny at times but still very worrying.

Today we go see the Professor Kalangu, who is a miracle worker I must add, to find out what still needs to be done for his head injuries and complete recovery. Luckily, I only looked at the
CT scans just days ago otherwise I would never have been able to remain so positive. When the Prof said ''It will be easy '' I now believe he was telling fibs.

It is a Miracle. There is no doubt and Matthew knows this too. He understands that there were millions of people around the world praying for his complete recovery.
Jeremiah 29:11 "I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord. "Plans to prosper and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."

Thank you to EVERYONE for your help and support.
The Professor, the Doctor's, the emergency trauma staff, the fund raising team and their donor's, the meals, the support from people I have never ever even met before, the messages of support and most of all the prayers.

The generosity of everyone here in Harare, Zimbabwe is astounding. A small town, with people all struggling themselves with their own problems and been through years of hardships with a struggling economy.

Thank you One and All
God bless you
