Bipolar in Kenya is not well understood. Most times untreated and can be very debilitating. My son suffered from Bipolar from an early age but nobody knew what it was. When he finished school with lots of difficulty, he started to drink. initially it started out as social drinking but because of Bipolar it nearly killed him. He is in rehab right now and he is on treatment. I would not wish this on any parent and i hope once he gets out of rehab he can become an advocate. The aim of this campaign is to sensitize Kenyans through all forms of media to recognize signs and symptoms of Bipolar. We also hope to educate people not to stigmatize mental health issues. We will also refer people for treatment and counselling with the networks we have established in this journey.
