Campaign Story
Bertha Munnisi has suffered the inability to conceive a baby for more than a decade, after scans and HSG procedure at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) showed that her fallopian tubes are blocked.
On Sunday15th of April, 2017 she was admitted for a laparascopic operation costing Ksh. 135,000 ($1,350) at Nairobi East Hospital to try to unblock the tubes.
After nearly four hours in theatre, this is what the surgeon had to say.
" We did surgery, we found a frozen pelvis, everything is matted together, and our attempts at separating them led to a lot of bleeding. So we stopped at that point. We couldn't even visualize the tubes. Her best chance is IVF."
As I'm writing this, Bertha is in a lot of pain, both physically and emotionally as she recuperates at home.
She's very discouraged. She feels all the pain she's going through after the surgery was in vain.
I've decided to stand with my wife of more than 13 years, despite the pressure from society, which expects a wife to bear a child.
The doctor advised that Bertha's last resort is IVF.
I'm now humbly calling for people of goodwill to join hands with us in raising $10, 000 which Dr. Mwinga said would be needed for the IVF procedure, which is not covered by insurance.
No contribution is small, whatever ability God has enabled you to contribute, please do.
With Love,
Alex G Kihuria, husband
