I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer Stage II-B last 2018 and undergone a series of External and Internal Radiation treatments in Makati Medical Center. By Q1 of 2019, after finishing all the radiation sessions, my biopsy result finally turned out negative but would still need monitoring. When pandemic started last 2020, my follow up checkups has been going on and off due to local and hospital restrictions. Even our original OB-Oncologist can't be reached as well.

By October 2021, we had decided to seek for a new Ob-Oncologist to look at my condition because I'm starting to feel some symptoms (unsual vaginal discharges). When we finally found one and completed the diagnosis, it turned out that my Cervical Cancer came back (squamous cell carcinoma). As a gold standard treatment for all recurrences of cancer, I've started my first session of high dose chemotherapy last November 2021. Unfortunately, I had a severe skin allergy reaction on the chemo treatment which is unsual for cancer patients with a similar condition. Upon further assessment of our Ob-Oncologist, safest course of action would be to go back to Internal Radiation treatment because if we will continue my chemotherapy, allergic reaction might get worse and could possibly lead to anaphylactic shock (death). The planned internal radiation treatment will not be similar with the last one as this should be highly precise and targeted on the tumor sprouting in my vaginal cell wall. Our doctor calls this treatment Interstitial Brachytherapy (planting of radioactive seeds in the tumor).

The only hospital in the Philippines that conducts Interstitial Brachytherapy is UST Hospital. Total projected bill for this treatment as confirmed by the hospital is PHP 210,000 which includes professional fees for the doctors (Ob-Oncologist, Radio-Oncologist, Cardiologist and Anaesthesiologist), radiation treatment and confinement for 5 days.

Due to the financial impact caused by the pandemic to our family, we can no longer afford this treatment. We will be highly grateful to any donations that will help us in facing this adversity. Me and my family are reaching out to all your kind hearts for support. I'm hoping for my recovery so I can be with my loved one and cherish our time with each other.
