Be the Change

Volunteer efforts Part I:  To commemorate his adoption 25 years ago, Justin and I are planning to volunteer at an orphanage in Costa Rica for a week with the Global Volunteer Network. We will be working with street children, children who have been abused, and orphans.  The goal of the program and our volunteer efforts is to provide children with the basic necessities of love, food, shelter and education.  We hope our time spent with these children will in some way enrich their lives, but it is likely us, who will be greatly impacted and enriched.   (cost: 3,200 - program fee, housing, airfare)

Volunteer efforts Part II:  The week following our time at the orphanage, I will be attending a week long training called "Be The Change," which is designed to teach me how to be a social change agent in my own community.  I hope to learn the skills to create programs here in America that will improve the lives of underprivledged people. (cost: 2,000)
