The difficulty of life inspired Bernard to strive harder to helped our family. He frequently rendered overtime work wherever possible. His desire to have college degree pushed him to exert more effort thus, after office hours he went to schooling. He dreamt big for our family, to lift us out from hardship of life.
Bernard's ticket for Singapore was March 17, 2016. We were so excited that my son will be looking for greener pasture in abroad, thus the glimpsed of hope stirred in our hearts for a better life.
Upon knowing that his healthcare will be cancelled after resignation, I advised him to have his medical checkup. Though he was hesitant, I was able to convinced him because of his concern for me that I wanna go with him for my check up also.
It was so depressing that his laboratory results indicates a kidney failure. Without second thought, his nephrologists admitted him that very day March 12, 2016 in St. Claire Medical Center for further procedure of his treatment. At the age of 29 he was diagnosed Chronic Kidney Disease stage 5 secondary to Chronic Glomerulonephritis end stage, a lifetime dialysis.
My son can't believe that he is sick because he did not experienced severe symptoms, it was hard for him to accept his serious health condition. His plan to work abroad was gone.. His dreams for a better life fades away. He also lost his job, lost his love affair. The girl whom he thought would be in his side to be his strength, left him for so many reasons. He lost his self-confidence...what remained was a broken heart.
But thanks be to God, the Grace of knowing Him, the faith that He had given us, renewed Bernard's strength, our family as well. He got connected to a small group in our church New Life The Fort and his lifegroup helped a lot in His spiritual growth. His health condition did not hindered Bernard's desire to serve the Lord. They have bible study and he assist/lead them in their Praise and Worship.
His dialysis treatment twice a week in Sta. Ana Taguig Dialysis Center was such a burden. Many had changed in his body/appearance, he lost weight and it weakened him. So many complications thus, he wanted to have kidney transplant for good, his younger sister Vanessa as donor. We submitted already some of the requirements at the NKTI (National Kidney and Transplant Institute last April 2018).
The diagnosis of Bernard's cardiologist at the Philippine Heart Center was Ischemic vs Dilated Cardiomyopathy. He had cardiomegaly, hepatomegaly and splenomegally, that is enlargement of the heart , liver, and spleen. His 2D echo result showed that he has only 47% ejection fraction meaning slow function of the heart. He was then advised for coronary andiogram.
As a mother, the thought of all those dreadful things broke my heart.
Having a big family like ours, my husband and I joined hands to support our needs. But our little earnings wasn't enough. We cannot sustained Bernard's medical expenses. Unfortunately, my husband also had coronary artery disease, 3 vessel disease with left main involvement. According to his cardiologist they called it walking timebomb that anytime it may explode. Thus, he undergo heart bypass operation last Nov. 2017.
Life is so difficult, so many trials that almost put us down.. But God is good, really "through the storm He is Lord!".
Bernard went through the online selling job. Although he earned not that much, but it helped to meet some of his necessities. We pray that God will bless his products, that people will "buy for a cause" to help a kidney warrior like him.
Kidney transplant needs a lot of money and we don't have it yet. That's why we are knocking from your kind heart to please help my son Bernard to raise money for his operation.
It may seem impossible but God makes a way when there seem to be no way. He provides miraculously. We entrusted everything to Him, our pain, sickness and disease, hardship of life, sufferings, we lift it all up to Him. He is our Almighty Father who sees what we are going through..He hears our deepest cry, He is always there even in our darkest moment, He speaks in every situation and He saturate us with His love.
I pray that God touches your generous heart to be a channel of blessings for my son Bernard. Any help from you will make a difference in my son's life. Let's all be part of his journey to successful kidney transplant and restoration if his good health condition, by God's grace and mercy.
