Bohol Animal Rescue & Kindness (BARK) is the only animal rescue and shelter organisation in Tagbilaran, Bohol, Philippines. Aside from shelter, our long-term projects include daily feeding in the city pound and Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Release/Manage (TNVRM) at several locations in Panglao.

Our mission is to promote responsible and humane ownership of all animals; to save the lives and provide a safe place and rehabilitation for abused, abandoned, and tortured animals; to provide a loving safe haven for abused, abandoned, and tortured animals; and to promote adoption of companion animals in loving forever homes.

The BARK shelter was started in June 2014 as a safe refuge for dogs rescued from abuse, abandonment and injury. Our no-kill free-range shelter is a happy haven for dogs of all ages. We have almost 100 dogs at our shelter which include puppies, crippled dogs and those suffering from cancer. Our dogs in the rescue center are all spayed and neutered and rabies vaccinated and have been given 5-in-1 vaccines. The healthy ones are all available for adoption.

We urgently need funds for the following:

  1. Our monthly expenses for food and maintenance medication for our dogs are in excess of 1,000 US Dollars. We feed on average 600 dogs every month, including our shelter dogs, our TNVRM community dogs, and the dogs impounded and on death row at the city pound.
  2. We need to pay our outstanding bill of 3,800 US Dollars at our partner vet clinic, so we can continue to rescue animals in need. We are constantly getting calls to rescue dogs who are victims of vehicular accidents, abuse and neglect, and severe diseases like distempter. Our partner vet clinic has been very understanding so far, but we need to get the bills paid.

BARK is made up of mostly volunteers, and we only have three full-time shelter caretakers. Please help us continue our important animal welfare advocacy work and make Bohol a more beautiful place for animals.
