What?
Starting April 16th 2021, I plan to walk barefoot 400km across Japan's main island from the port of Yokohama to the beach in Niigata... raising awareness of
self care and mindfulness.
Proceeds will go to TELL, Tokyo English Life Line, an English speaking crisis hotline serving Japan's international community. TELL has helped me immensely in the past.
Who?
Rob Nugen, as seen on Japanese TV: YOUは何し日本へ?
Rob has been running a men’s peer counseling group in Tokyo since 2015.
Rob has been conducting spiritual workshops in both Tokyo and Kanagawa.
As an 18-year resident in Kanagawa, Rob is fully aware of both the joys and pitfalls of life in Japan. In the middle of work, relationships, and other commitments, it is easy to feel cut off, isolated, and eager to find something more meaningful.
When?
Starting Friday April 16th, and if all goes well, finishing Sunday May 9th, at the end of Golden Week in Japan.
Where?
Walking 400 kilometers, (100 里) coast to coast across Honshu, Japan's main island, from Rinko Park in Yokohama to Aoyama Seaside Park near Niigata Station.
Why?
There are multiple overlapping intentions, including
1. challenging myself physically, mentally, spiritually
2. encouraging people to connect with their body + heart + mind + soul
3. encouraging groundedness, connection with the natural world
4. raising awareness of emotional wellness resources
