Campaign Story
Our office colleague Lem has a 3-month old baby named Lia. Baby Lia was born with a hole in her heart and will need to undergo surgery.
What does a hole in the heart mean? This is when a baby is born with a hole in between the left and right sides of the heart, which is normally separated to keep oxygen-rich blood separate from oxygen-depleted blood. With the hole in the heart, the blood between the two sides are mixed, leading to stress to the heart as it has to work harder to fill the body with enough oxygen-rich blood. Even feeding for the baby would cause sweating, shortness of breath and tiredness as it is almost like exercising for the baby.
Baby Lia is now experiencing shortness of breath and her open heart surgery is scheduled on 12 September 2016. Aside from being concerned about Lia's health, the family are worried about how to fund the operation which is equivalent to 1 year salary in the Philippines.
Baby Lia and her family needs your help!
