BaanPrapradang home for the disabled without families

Hello, I am a student at Mahidol University in Thailand.

As a class project for my Global Leadership Development Class, we are encouraged to do something that will make an impact on society as well as working towards fixing a problem that we care about.

Having been in Thailand for 3 years now, I have noticed that there are many non-profit organization that help people who are in need. Ranging from children to elders who are without family, or lack the financial support to live a healthy life. These organizations bring them in and care for them through donations. Although there are many institutions in Thailand that help the people that are in need, but one stuck out to me the most. BaanPrapradang, A non-profit organization that takes care of people with disabilities over the age of 18 all the way up to 70 years old. Some of these people are disabled mentally and physically. Many do not have families or families do not have enough funding to care for them. So they are here, at BaanPrapradang where they rely on people like us. They count on donations of house hold goods and money, to provide the best care to the people that are here. Currently they are home to over 500 people that are disabled and without families.

I am setting up a fundraiser to raise money in hopes of being able to provide them with the necessary household items that they can utilize for a long time. These items include toothbrush, toothpaste, laundry detergent, soap, rice, cooking oil, snacks, cotton swaps, and adult diapers... etc. Along with the donations, I will also be hosting an event on March, 12th to provide hot lunches, ice cream, and snacks to the people at BaanPrapradang. I am also rounding up groups of friends and students to join me to come and hangout and play games for a couple hours, as the people at BaanPrapradang do not get many young visitors. I would like my friends to be able to learn their stories and hopefully open their eyes and change their view of the world. Although we may have everything we could possibly ever want, we can not forget about the people that are dying to have the life that we have.
