Hello my name is Rusul, I am starting this fundraiser to start a community centre that will operate to hold a safe space for migrant communities and especially the queer community.

As a queer Arab refugee who had to navigate the system alone upon arriving in Greece, I understand firsthand the urgent need for a safe haven where individuals from diverse backgrounds can find solace and support within a nurturing community.

The Palestinian refugee community comprises the largest refugee community in the world. Since the genocide in Gaza began, in October 2023, many Palestinian refugees in Europe have been forcible deported back to Greece, where their asylum journey began, without any support. I have taken it upon myself to advocate and fundraise for these families and individuals. The queer refugee community is noticeably vulnerable, many times they find little-to-no support.

I am asking for your help to establish a dedicated space where people can seek refuge, assistance, and solidarity. The space will also embrace the beauty of their diverse cultures, while creating dialogue with the surrounding Greek community.
