My name is Lainey Foltz and I have been running track since third grade. Two of the most important things in my life have been the ability to serve Jesus and know him in a personal way and my athletics. Currently I have had the amazing opportunity of attending and running Track and Field at William Jewell College. God has also put so many more wonderful options in my path.
I was very young when I devoted my life to Christ. I was as crazy as any other little kid at the age of 4 or 5. I understood little about the world and the real meaning of Christ. As I have grown I have learned more about being a Christian, what it really means to live for Christ and came to understand it all clearly. I also learned for myself things I previously learned to inform myself the best I could. I have become more mature as a Christian and it has helped me in so many ways in my life. I now know to think of God before myself and serve him relentlessly. I serve others above myself and try to show compassion to all. I live like Jesus modeled for us and strive to honor him every day.
I started running track when my club coach saw me running through the yard and he told my mom I should join the Jefferson County Jets Track Club. I joined and fell in love. Track has been a huge part of my life and I have learned that not only can I benefit from my talents but I can also serve the Lord too.
This Summer I have the amazing chance to finally use my talents to serve the Lord on a mission. I have joined a Christian Track Team sponsored by Athletes in Action (AIA), Campus Crusade’s athletic ministry. As a part of this team I will be traveling overseas to Cameroon Africa to help the AIA in-country staff build relationships with the athletes, coaches, fans, and many others. Along with competing and training with the athletes here we will be able to help spread Gods word by sharing the message of Jesus Christ with the athletes on a personal level.
Traveling with AIA will help me extend my relationship with God, learn how to share my faith with others, develop leadership skills, and lead people to a personal relationship with Christ. As you might expect, this will certainly require an investment of much of my time and energy.
My team and all the others at AIA are made possible by individuals such as you who are interested in our endeavors. You too can become a part of our team as we travel and compete. Each member of the team has been given the task of raising a portion of the team’s goal. All funds will be needed by May 20th prior to our reporting to training camp.
It would be most appreciated if you would prayerfully consider a donation to help me reach my goal. It does not matter how much or how little an individual gives you will be helping reach people for Christ throughout Cameroon, provide training for them and myself.
I have enclosed a self-addressed, return envelope for your response. Please make checks payable to ATHLETES in ACTION or CAMPUS CRUSADE FOR CHRIST, and PLEASE DO NOT WRITE MY NAME IN THE MEMO LINE DUE TO IRS AND NCAA GUIDELINES. I also cannot accept cash because there is no way to track charitable giving through cash donations. Supporters cannot receive any tax deductions for cash. Please put my tracking number, 0696141 in the memo section. You can also give online at www.give.ccci.org by entering my tracking number, 0696141, into the “Give Gift” box. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me or my parents.
