Support Gustavs studies at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London!

Gustavs Melbardis is a young, talented singer from Riga, Latvia. He has just been offered a place to study on full-time BA (Hons) Performance (Actor Musicianship) / Diploma in Professional Acting course from this September 2021 in one of the world's leading performance schools - Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, UK. The Actor-Musicianship course is a unique opportunity to learn the possessiveness of an actor while also continuing to grow as a professional musician. The audition process for gaining a place at Mountview for the 21/22 intake was a rigorous three-phase process. Academy received over 1500 applications for the course and just a selected amount was invited to recall. Gustavs successfully achieved the high scores needed to pass each of these phases and was one of the top highest scorers at the final recall phase.

Although the family is willing to put all of its resources to make Gustav's dream come true, that is not enough. We ask for your support!

Tuition fees for EU students are 2.5 times higher than last years because of Brexit. The tuition fee for one year of three is €21,000 Euros. The estimated cost of living is around €15,000 per year. EU citizens are currently denied access to study credits in the United Kingdom, and the Latvian Government has not offered study credits for acquiring education abroad since March 2020. Because of Brexit, as an EU citizen, Gustav’s has to pay the fee for the first year by June 5th. The Academy shall examine the possibilities for granting a scholarship according to the results of the first semester. After the first semester of training, the academy offers job opportunities to partially cover living expenses.

Gustavs Melbārdis was studying in Riga Cathedral choir schools Jazz department. In 2020 graduated Musical Theatre department. In 2018, was one of the founders and singers of the vocal group “INSOMNIA.” Major projects: Child roles in the productions of “Pippi” (2006), “Nora” (2006), “The Time of the Land Surveyors” (2007) at National Theatre of Latvia. Alfred Doolittle - “My Fair Lady” (2016), Devil of Dietrich - "The Bear-Slayer” (2019), Lieutenant Liepins - “Kaupen, My Dear” (2020), Rodger Davis - ”RENT” (2020).

The Music and Arts Foundation (Mūzikas un Mākslas Atbalsta fonds) was established in 2002 with the goal of supporting and promoting the development of Latvian artists, advanced creative processes, participation in cultural life events, cultural value preservation, promotion, and accessibility to the general public, as well as the development of international cultural relations. The MAF team is happy to share the knowledge gained by assisting in the development of pro-innovation processes, acquiring cultural management experience in teaching practices for cultural specialist students, and assisting in the development of pro-innovation processes.
