Computers for Underprivileged Girls, Lucknow, India

Nai Roshni (Ray of Light) is a school for girls from the slums in Lucknow. These girls would never have a chance to get educated or have hope for an independent future without Sonia Singh, the founder of Astha Kiran. Astha Kiran is the NGO that started and is running Nai Roshni.

Sonia and her team has been working relentlessly for over 15 years to help change the conditions and future for these girls. They are also working hard out in the community to change the way girls and women are viewed and help raise their status in society.

The Computer Lab today. Most days the 3 Computers Nai Roshni do have are not even starting. Lets help the School build a working Lab and help introduce the Girls to the World of Computers.

We really need your support in this, one of Give IT International's first projects. We want to help Nai Roshni by buying computers. Nai Roshni is in need of 12 workstations. The plan is to buy one server that we can run 7 workstations from and 5 Laptops. We also need a power inverter and battery as the school frequently is without electricity.

We will help to introduce the world of computers to these girls. Maybe one day they will have a career within IT, something that would have been impossible to even think of if it was not for Astha Kiran and now, Us.
