- Research on a unique approach to language teaching (Mandarin) via classical Chinese. By learning Chinese characters in the context of classical text such as Tang poetry, even absolute beginners can relish the cream of the Chinese language. Let poetry pave the way!
- Currently the teaching of the Chinese language has its main focus on oral communication, and when the basics is taught it's near impossible to give the student a real insight into the extensive cultural background knowledge attached to it, thus making the learning of the writing system (Chinese characters) extremely inaccessible. The reason for this is that the core of this language is its characters, thus making the modern version (Mandarin) more difficult to master than its predecessor (Classical Chinese) in terms of the number of characters required to express the same meaning. In a word, to express the same meaning, Mandarin may use 3 characters whereas classical chinese only requires 1. So from the perspective of character learning, classical Chinese is more straightforward therefore more foreigner-friendly.
- This project is powered by scholars with extensive language research experience and volunteers enthusiastic about this beautiful language. It takes a cross-platform solution to reach a worldwide audience, namely, products will be available as traditional textbooks, ebooks, iBooks textbooks, iOS apps, Android apps, podcasts and websites.
- This approach will be truly unique and innovative in the field of Chinese language teaching.
