CJ and I are excited to embark on a very exciting and challenging ministry opportunity! On January 27th we will be leading a team of 10 other people to Kisumu Kenya to build a school for girls. Currently they study in classrooms mostly built of sheet metal. Imagine the heat of an African summer combined with a tin room... yikes! We will be partnering with the school directors and also skilled local workers to accomplish this. With better classrooms, the girls will have a much more conducive environment to study and thrive in a resource limited neighborhood like the Obunga Slum. Additionally, we will serve the children and share the love of Jesus by participating in their classroom studies, playing outdoor games, prepare and serve meals that we will eat together, and equipping their teachers with fresh ideas for teaching. CJ and I will also be spending time in the homes of each of the 5 girls we sponsor. It is our hope to build lasting relationships with the parents of the girls we are commited to sponsoring each month! An extension of our own family. ak Traveling to Kenya is a life changing mission trip for both the girls and us, the volunteers. We will change the lives of the children by supporting them through education, showing them love that most dont recieve at home because of abusive and uncaring parents, and building beautiful new classrooms so they can have a safe place as they persue an education that serves as a building block to empowering these little ladies to be the next generation of change makers in their community.
