ABU PEACE CARNIVAL

    The ABU PEACE CARNIVAL tagged: "Youths as Peace Builders" is an exciting event organized by Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria - Nigeria to mobilize youth groups, religious leaders, women groups, well-meaning individuals and stakeholders in the peace building sector to raise awareness on security challenges facing Nigeria and aslo give an expression her diversified cultural heritage. The  carnival is premised on the principles of team work, collective responsibility thatv provides a platform for Nigerians especially the youths to appreciate the society, discover and explore their creative potentials as well as the ability to promote peacebuilding in their communities. The carnival will be attended by over 5,000 participants. The proposedPeace Carnival showcasing the uniquely rich cultural diversity in Nigeria is another window to create an enduring platform for the promotion of unity, peace, social cohesion and national integration as well as shore up the country’s development and socio-economic growth. The carnival while celebrating the cosmopolitan vision of the founding fathers of Nigeria will emphasize the roles of national icons in building bridges and fostering national integration.       Furthermore the carnival will culminate in a Peace Public Lecture and the launching of a Peace Park. The park will not only be a symbol for peace in the  community, but is intended to provide a serene and secure space for youthts to engage in their pursuits and calm down tension.The youths are convinced that this initiative will compliment the efforts to bring about dialogue between different cultures with a view of to encourage “Peace, Unity and Development” in Nigeria in view of the current security challenges facing the country as well as reduce crime and violence to the barest minimum. More so, the Peace Park will initiate and co-ordinate peace programs in local communities. The event is scheduled for 31st July, 2014 @ Mamman Katongora Square, Samaru – Zaria, Kaduna - Nigeria on the  by 12noon.               We will appreciate your support and donations, which will immensely boost the morale of these young minds towards realizing this noble dream.
