Campaign Story
A trishaw to ensure that older people leave their houses and enjoy the fresh air.
Last year I spent some months in Brighton, UK and something that positively surprised me there - amongst many things - was the Pedal People Service. This initiative involves volunteers, who ride trishaws on the seafront, and elderly individuals, who get the chance to be driven around and breathe some sea air.
I love cycling and one of the things I prefer in life is the air through my hair when I ride my bike. I believe that this feeling should no be denied to anyone. I would like to take the Pedal People Service to my city, Novara, Italy. I believe that the first ones to benefit from it will be my family members: my auntie, who suffers from Alzheimer's, and my grandparents, who have been cycling for their entire lives and are not able to continue doing so due to lack of balance and eye problems.
Also, my grandparents have been attending Casa di Giorno for the last year. Casa di Giorno is a "kindergarten" focused on the elderly people and I would love to provide this service to the other members too.
My goal is to give the grandparents of the world some air in their hair and to increase the number of riders and trishaws in order to make it happen on a large scale.
